All referrals require accompanying evidence of diagnosis, eg. audiogram, audiological report or ophthalmologist/optometrist report.
Eligibility Guidelines for Services from the Deaf Education ProgramEligibility is guided by the World Health Organisation definition of disabling hearing loss in children
- permanent or long-term hearing loss of greater than 30dB in the better ear
Evidence outlining the educational impact of the hearing loss, individual needs and communication development will be considered in the allocation of service.
Eligibility Guidelines for Services from the Vision Education Program
Eligibility is guided by the World Health Organisation definition of Vision Impairment:
- visual acuity of 6/18 or less (with correction, Both Eyes Open) and/or
- a constricted visual field of 20 degrees or less
Clear recorded evidence that the vision impairment significantly impacts on learning is required.
