Belmont City College
Belmont City College Deaf Education Hub supports Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in years 8 through to 12. Through a partnership with Belmont City College, visiting teachers of the deaf are based at the school to provide support for students across all learning areas. All students have a Communication Development and Inclusion Plan coordinated by the teacher of the deaf that forms an integral part of the student’s individual education plan. This plan is established and reviewed by a team that includes a teacher of the deaf, parents/caregivers, other school personnel and the student.
Teachers of the deaf individualise programs to match the needs and strengths of each student. This may involve one on one tutorials or small group work. Teacher of the deaf work closely with other class teachers and support staff at Belmont City College to ensure there is a consistent approach to providing support and teaching and learning adjustments.
